She has 10 years’ experience teaching music privately to individuals and small groups of all ages and abilities, and currently has a 100% pass rate at distinction with all pupils who have undertaken exams through ABRSM and LCM.

Sam began classical training in the violin at a young age and progressed quickly, achieving distinction at Grade 8 aged 16. During her teenage years she gained vast experience playing in orchestras and chamber groups, working with renowned players, conductors and composers including Roger Coull, David Greed and Geoffrey Palmer; she also toured Europe as part of an orchestra, playing in major venues in Germany, Italy, France and Spain. Whilst studying for her A levels at college, she took on her first pupil and discovered a passion for developing the musical skills and knowledge of others. She has been teaching ever since!

As a singer, Sam’s training began at the relatively late age of 16, encouraged by her school music teacher. Initially, her vocal training was in the genre of Musical Theatre; this was followed quickly by training in Popular Vocals and she achieved distinction at Grade 8 in both genres. Sam has performed extensively as a soloist and with several bands, chamber groups and choirs, and has a real passion for developing vocal harmony through arrangement and composition.

Having had a varied musical background, Sam is passionate about passing on a much of her knowledge as possible to others whilst encouraging them to develop their own style and identity as a musician. She thrives on seeing others progress and enjoy their studies. With a friendly and positive nature, Sam encourages students to relax and achieve their best during lessons, whatever level they are working at. She welcomes students of all ages, abilities and ambitions, whether they wish to work towards exams or simply wish to fulfil a lifelong dream. She also offers Music Theory training to those looking to pass more advanced instrumental exams, or for those who wish to explore the science a little further!
